BOSEncyclopedia!
Finally received my copy of this fantastic book on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by Mr. Chandrachur Ghose. Can't wait to start flipping over the pages and assimilate immense knowledge related to, someone I like to call the "Harbinger of Indian Freedom." Had a look at the bibliography, the author has referred to segments from Netaji's autobiography (An Indian Pilgrim) and also to works and letters of his close associates. So there remains not an iota of doubt on the authenticity and accuracy of the content. Also the book is in a wonderful condition, no deformations during the delivery!

The Hero who survived with passing generations
Chandrachur Ghose’s Bose: The Untold Story of an Inconvenient Nationalist is a meticulously researched biography that delves deep into the life, political ideology, and controversies surrounding Subhas Chandra Bose. Unlike traditional narratives that focus solely on his heroism, this book presents a nuanced and sometimes uncomfortable portrayal of Bose’s journey, exploring his conflicts, decisions, and vision for India.Ghose takes readers beyond the well-known accounts of Bose’s leadership in the Indian National Army (INA) and his differences with Mahatma Gandhi. The book explores his early influences, ideological shifts, and diplomatic struggles, especially his association with Axis powers during World War II.✔ Beyond the Mainstream Narrative – The book challenges popular perceptions, portraying Bose as a leader whose radical vision did not align with the dominant narratives of the Indian freedom struggle.✔ His Differences with Gandhi & Nehru – Bose’s strained relationships with Gandhi and Nehru, particularly over issues of armed struggle versus non-violence, are examined in depth.✔ Diplomatic Efforts & Military Strategy – Ghose highlights Bose’s negotiations with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, explaining his rationale for seeking their support despite their global reputation.✔ The Mystery of His Death – The book also touches upon the enduring controversy surrounding Bose’s alleged plane crash in 1945, questioning official accounts and exploring alternative theories. This book is significant because it challenges the sanitized versions of history and forces readers to rethink Bose’s legacy. It presents him not just as a patriot but as a pragmatic, sometimes ruthless strategist who believed in complete independence through armed revolution rather than gradual constitutional reforms.Chandrachur Ghose’s writing is deeply analytical, backed by extensive archival research, declassified documents, and personal correspondences of Bose. His narrative is engaging, though at times dense with historical details, making it more suited for readers who appreciate in-depth political analysis. Some critics argue that the book leans toward a revisionist approach, at times attempting to justify Bose’s controversial alliances. Additionally, while it provides extensive details on his ideology and struggles, a deeper exploration of his impact on post-independence India would have made it even more comprehensive.A must-read for history enthusiasts, scholars, and anyone seeking a deeper, more unfiltered look at Subhas Chandra Bose. Bose: The Untold Story of an Inconvenient Nationalist presents a bold, well-researched perspective that challenges conventional wisdom and adds new dimensions to Bose’s legacy. It is an essential book for understanding the complexities of India’s struggle for independence and the leader who dared to take a different path.

Super Book
At the very beginning I would like to make one thing clear, that this book is not a hagiography of Subhas Bose but a well researched serious Biography. The language is lucid and even those who aren't that strong in English language won't find it difficult to read the book. This book authoritatively covers the transformation of Subhas Chandra Bose to Netaji. The author has done extensive research work, more than 80% of the work is based on primary sources. Intelligence reports, archival documents, memoirs of important persons are frequently used , a lot of new information on Netaji has been incorporated in the book. The author has used interesting cartoons of that time published in newspapers to depict the situation. The author has successfully brought out the natural human traits of Netaji. This book offers an in-depth analysis of Netaji's views on Nationalism, Spirituality, Socialism, Administration,Economics, History, Art , Culture,Education, Caste, Women empowerment, Municipal planning and governance. His close contacts with the revolutionary groups from his college days till the very last moment before his disappearance, his ideas on Military and International affairs , his relation with Axis Powers and how his vision was far ahead of his time. And how his ideas were different from Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Savarkar, Communists etc.His views on Partition, Cow Slaughter etc, his efforts to bridge gap between different sects of Hindu Community, his views and relations with Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League. The author has either intentionally left out or briefly touched upon a lot of well known events of Netaji's life and in palce brought out many unknown incidents from Netaji's life. His idea of propagating Hinduism in foreign countries to make India a world power. This book convincingly helps us to make out how Netaji's leftism or Socialism was very different from other Socialist. After reading this book you will realise that the only terms which can represent Netaji's feelings is undiluted, genuine Nationalism.Just how people go to a market and purchase different commodities of different brand according to his need and capacity, Netaji was also doing the same for India. He was not following any ideology blindly he was trying to study and understand was is suitable for India's overall growth, he picked out important features from Communism, Socialism, Fascism and also from India's Spritual and Cultural heritage.Chapters like Pheonix Rises, Quagmire of Isims , Covert Operative and INA and Independence needs a special mention. This book also gives us an idea how Netaji and INA played a crucial role in accelerating the exit of British Rule from India.Overall the book is worth purchasing.I highly recommend this book.

Amazing, astonishing & eye-opener
Amazing & astonishing read.. After reading this book, I came to know that I never knew the real reason for Indian Independence history. I just knew that there was one freedom fighter Subhash Chandra bose who had Indian National Army at his command. How he fought, his struggle for India’s independence was, why he allied with Axis power was unknown till now. But after reading this book I am very clear about how India got its Independence. Through documented letters, reference for each sentence by the author shows his deep study on subject matter which is very much appreciable. This book taught me more history regarding India's Independence than all my curriculum together.Real reason for India's independence was SC Bose. This is said by then UK PM Attlee in his biography who has given independence to India. This has never been taught in our books. Distorted history taught by earlier governments.I am thankful to Modiji that his government is atleast trying to give due credit to this great freedom fighter. I also request the government to declassify all secret files for general people to know more about SC Bose.I very strongly recommend this book to each Indian as a must read book.

Many readers say the narrative stays gripping enough to carry a long read. Review summaries highlight both engagement and readability, which matters in a book of this length.
