Two Degrees by Alan Gratz (Paperback)

Who it's for

Choose this novel for readers age 10 and up who want a story with momentum and substance. The English paperback is clearly aimed at young readers, and review summaries say the subject matter resonates with them rather than feeling watered down. Parents in the feedback also mention school book clubs and projects, so the book fits both independent reading and class-related use.

What makes it different

Expect a climate-change story that stays narrative-first. Reviewers repeatedly call the plot compelling and urgent, and shopper feedback highlights history-based elements with fictional twists plus a strong human focus at the center of the action. That mix is a big reason readers describe the book as thought-provoking instead of only issue-driven.

When you'd use it

Pick this paperback when a reader wants a longer, immersive read rather than a quick sampler. At 384 pages, the story has room for cliffhangers and surprise turns, and several reviewers say the pace kept them moving from chapter to chapter or through the whole book in one sitting. The paperback format also suits readers who prefer a familiar, easy-to-handle book.
